Read Andrew's story...
I grew up in a great Christian home in Leicester going to church every Snuday. I Loved my dad - he was my role model. All he did was right in my eyes. I relied on him and loved him! He was my hero.
I went to a few churches with my family but I never enjoyed it. I never had any freinds there. I felt like I had to make myself worthy and was quite religious about it. I had no personal revelation of His love.
When I was 17 and doing my A Levels there was a knock on door one day. There was two members of the Police there. I knew that generally meant that it wasn't good news.My mum and my sister were away on holiday at the time in Greece. They came in and explained that Dad had been in an accident. Later they told me he was dead.
As soon as I heard, I said a quick prayer in my head. I said 'God you are my dad now so I'm going to need you.' As soon as I did, I felt an incredible peace. I can't describe it but the Police assumed I was in shock. from that moment I had a real relationship whith Him. I went to him when I had problems or needed to let off steam. Instead of pain and questions of why. God stepped in because I asked and He helped me deal with my emotions.
I came to Sheffield to study at university. I started coming to Hope City Church. It was amazing. The people were real and the preaching made sense. I made friends straight away and I got filled with Holy Spirit and have been here ever since.
God is my closest friend. I go to him for direction. He's my heavenly dad who has the whole world to consider but still I can talk to him whenever. The more time I spend with him the more fall in love with him.
I graduated from university and have decided to stay in Sheffield for the forseeable future. I work in the Media Department at Church as a volunteer and work freelance as a video editor. I am very close with my mum and my sister's beautiful family.
