Meet the leadership of Hope City Church
Hope City Church is one church with four great congregations in Sheffield, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham and our newest congregation in Accra, Ghana. Sheffield is our flagship congregation which began in 1991 and meets at the Sheffield Megacentre, near the heart of the city. Megacentres are also found in Liverpool and Leeds and are being developed into fantastic assets to their communities.
Over 1000 people meet on Sunday across our six cities and we have a fantastic team of people dedicated to their future success.
Dave & Jenny Gilpin - The Senior Pastors
Dave and Jenny began Hope City Church in Sheffield in the spring of 1991. Dave was born in Birkenhead, England but lived most of his life in Australia. After seeing the amazing growth of church life in Australia, in particular with the Assemblies of God group of Churches, where a large church was no longer around 300 people but more like 3000, they felt compelled to move to England to share this new Aussie enthusiasm for Jesus Christ.
After being incredibly moved by the Hillsborough Football Stadium disaster, where so many lost their lives, Dave and Jenny headed for the North of England and placed an ad in a Sheffield newspaper, ‘Aussie Church Starting’. From humble beginnings, the church has grown in influence and stature and now has congregations in Sheffield, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle and Birmingham. Plus from March 2010 we will be launching Hope City Accra (Ghana). There are also now three Megacentres (Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds).
Roger & Anna Davies - Liverpool Congregation Pastors
This incredible couple have been part of the life of Hope City Church for over a decade and have been so faithful to the call of God upon their lives. They have recently moved to the city of Liverpool to take the helm of our congregation there to build on the foundations of the Megacentre that has been opened. We're expecting this congregation to flourish and grow as Roger and Anna put their gifts and their mark on what is a fantastic part of the Hope City family. You'll love their heart for people! They have two gorgeous girls, Zoe and Yasmine.
Chris & Gosia Denham - Leeds Congregation Pastors
With amazing hearts and a great sense of humour, these two have put Hope City Church in Leeds firmly on the map. The congregation has seem amazing growth having moved into their new city centre building which will is quickly becoming a hub of activity for the city. Chris was born and raised in the North and Gosia is originally from Poland - they met at Bible College and have never looked back. They have growing 5 year old son called Joel and an amazinly beautiful one year girl called Ania.
Simon & Rachael Taylor - Newcastle Congregation Pastors
Hope City Church in Newcastle has certainly kicked off to a flying start since making its home at the city's iconic football stadium, St James' Park! Since making the move last summer, the congregation has been on the journey UP, with all the new things God is doing. Even Newcastle United are on with the winning streak! Simon and Rachael both grew up in Hope City Church in Sheffield and made the move in 2007 up to Geordieland to start a revolution in the great city of Newcastle. They're all about seeing people move forward in everything God has for them, seeing lives touched and changed by an incredible God. They have one daughter called Kyla and two sons called Malachi and Luka!
Colin & Beth Blois - Birmingham Congregation Planters
Hope City Church in Birmingham launched on 2nd October 2009 with 250 rammed into a conferencing suite at the Radisson Hotel in the City Centre of Birmingham. It's got off to a brilliant start with 20 decisions in the first two weeks and over 100 people from Birmingham checking us out every week so far. Having graduated from the Leadership Academy in Sheffield, Colin along with his wife Beth, have overseen the 0-30's ministries in Sheffield, seeing hundreds of youth, students and young adults engage in church life from accross the city. They are a cheeky couple with plenty of life and passion for building the house of God. This is a couple to keep your eye on - they are going places! Colin loves stationary and Beth used to play for the Leeds Under 18's football team.
Andy & Karen Gorman - 2010 Accra (Ghana) Pastors
Having been the congregation pastors in Liverpool for six years they are now pioneering our first International congregation since Pastors Dave and Jenny pioneered the church in 2001. Ghana has been a missions arm of what we do for several years now and we actively sponsor 170 children through Compassion in one village outside the capital. In March 2010 Andy and Karen along with their two daughters, Amy and Eden, moved over with a team to plant Hope City Accra! It's an exciting move and we are believing and planning for a significant church to rise up that will serve the city and the country in the years to come. The official launch is in September 2010.
